Tokyo Women’s Medical University has a long history of medical engineering research and cooperative research with industrial companies. As a representative example, we constructed an “intelligent operating theater” where an open-type MRI is installed inside the operating room, and we achieved excellent treatment results in a malignant brain tumor surgery. Besides, the development of the MRI-compatible microscope, operating table, awake surgery support device, and NUI for image viewer OPECT™ has successfully successfully launched in the market . In addition, the physician-led clinical trial of the combination device of the PDT laser has been conducted, and we successfully obtained the regulatory approval from the government. However, even if the best technology is used in a medical device, the strategy for sales, insurance, intellectual properties, etc., should be deeply considered.

Through this project, we are conducting a series of lectures and practical programs including a hospital visit to the foster human resources of a medical device finisher. A finisher is a person who has the overall ability to make the developed products beneficial to the company .

We strongly recommend you to join our project if you have a strong interest in medical devices. One of our purposes is to create a common forum for everyone to exchange information or opinions and to discuss about medical devices freely and vigorously. We believe that people having various occupations in the same fields and different skills in the art come together, and we strongly hope that innovative medical devices are created through our project.
