About the research groups
“Leading edge combined fields” “Innovation” “Creation”
The concept for establishing this center was adopted as one of the projects under "Formation of centers for the creation of innovative mergers of leading edge technologies", a project supported by the 2006 Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
Regenerative medicine enables curative treatments previously considered impossible. While it holds out a range of possibilities, it is still in the germinative stage.
The concept for establishing Tokyo Women's Medical University as a center calls for gathering a variety of leading edge technologies through partnerships between medicine and engineering, and between academia and industry. We will pursue multifaceted development of regenerative medicine technologies for the treatment of a range of diseases with the aim of empowering society with regenerative medicine in the near future.
At this center, we are pursuing comprehensive research towards achieving real regenerative medicine, with separate research groups ranging from the development of culture materials and large-scale production technologies to preclinical research towards human clinical testing.
